SLP Environmental has been active in Myanmar since 2012.

Our primary service offerings in Myanmar currently comprise of Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) studies. Typical subcomponents of these overarching studies include; environmental, ecological and socioeconomic baseline studies, natural hazards assessment, cultural/religious/archeological baseline studies, terrestrial and marine flora and fauna surveys, stakeholder identification and engagement activities, air dispersion modelling (ADM), greenhouse gas quantification, coastal and marine impacts modelling and cumulative impact assessment (CIA).

SLP has been awarded Environmental Due Diligence Advisor of the Year for Myanmar by the ACQ Global Awards for 3 years running and is one of the few organisation’s approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MONREC) to prepare Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment (ESIA) and Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plan (ESMMP) reports for projects.

We specialise in preparing studies that satisfy national regulatory requirements as well as the environmental and social performance criteria of project lenders such as the international financial institutions (IFC and ADB), export credit agencies and international investment banks (Equator Principles). We also provide independent expert second opinion, advisory and peer review services on behalf of project lenders and investors.

In addition to our private sector work, SLP Environmental has also been engaged in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) capacity building activities with Myanmar Government Agencies and recently co-authored the Sector Specific Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines for Oil and Gas Activities in Myanmar on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MONREC).
