Environmental Due Diligence & Compliance Audit

Manufacturing Operation, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

SLP Environmental was appointed to conduct and report an environmental due diligence assessment combined with a environmental regulatory compliance audit for a  manufacturing operation located in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam. The client was considering the acquisition of the premises and operation and SLP was instructed to perform the services as part of the overall transaction due diligence process. The primary objective of the assignment was to assess whether there were any environmental issues related to the property and operation that could have a material impact on the transaction.

The Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) assessment was performed in general conformance with practice presented in ISO 14015 – Environmental Assessment of Sites and Organizations and was supplemented with an Environmental Regulatory Compliance Review.

Our trained auditors interviewed members of the facilities management and operations team and conducted a detailed inspection of the facility and the operations and activities thereon. Particular attention was paid to procedures and practices pertaining to general environmental management, hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, bulk storage tanks, wastewater, air emissions, nuisance controls and other miscellaneous environmental aspects. The assessment also included a detailed records review to assess whether the facility was in possession of all the relevant environmental licenses, consents and permits as required under Vietnamese law for their operations.

Our auditors conducted a detailed review of the physical and biological site setting including studies on the areas geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, ecology, history and cultural factors. The assessment was undertaken on a rapid turnaround basis and culminated in the production of a commercially focused report that clearly identified the material and other relevant environmental issues and their respective likely mitigation costs. The report also included a checklist detailing the environmental regulatory requirements applicable to the operation and activities at the target facility and the current compliance status of the facility with respect to each.
