SLP Environmental has extensive experience providing Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) services in Myanmar and can provide specialist environmental and socio-economic services to support our clients activities in the oil and gas, soft commodities, power generation, mineral extraction, infrastructure, telecommunications, property, agro-industrial, textile, apparel and manufacturing sectors in Myanmar. Myanmar is currently the seventh largest economy in the ASEAN grouping with a 2011 GDP estimated at $83 billion and a GDP growth forecast of 6% for 2012/2013 and now that economic sanctions have been lifted or suspended some analysts predict that it could become ASEANs new tiger economy.
Myanmar is in the process of developing a legislative framework for the protection and management of the natural environment under the auspices of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MONREC).
