Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment

Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment

Port Logistics Facility, Ranong, Thailand

SLP Environmental was appointed by an international Oil and Gas services company to conduct and report a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (Phase 1 ESA) for a proposed port logistics facility located in Southern Thailand. The facility was required to support the clients offshore operations in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea.

The Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) was conducted in general conformance with the methods and procedures described in the – ‘Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment Process, Designation E1527-05’, published by The American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) in November 2005.

The assessment comprised of a site and environs inspection, consultations with regulatory agencies, desk study/data procurement and interviews with the owners representatives. Desk study research included sourcing information on historic landuses, local geology and hydrogeology, hydrology and protected areas.

This information was utilised to determine the environmental sensitivity of the study site area and facilitate an assessment of the current and future potential environmental liabilities associated with the acquisition and development of the property for a port facility enduse.

The primary objective of the study was to identify any Recognised Environmental Conditions (RECs) and/or De Minimis conditions associated with current and historical landuses and provided reasonable cost estimates to rectify and or otherwise address any identified liabilities.
